Majestic UFO X

With technology improving at a rapid pace, and the digital TV roll out, Majestic knew it was time to redevelop the UFO TV antenna and bring the latest in state-of-the-art technology to a new model. The Majestic UFO X Marine TV Antenna is the new replacement to the famous UFO which was over 10 years old in technology and was known globally as the ultimate Marine Antenna with its high gain and compact size. Ensuring size and performance were the most important factors the Majestic engineering team developed the UFO X to be perfectly matched with the Majestic range of TV and give you the ultimate in performance especially when you are in fringe areas. You won’t find a company that develops their own TV antenna and TV which are perfectly tuned to give you the performance needed when you are in fringe areas such as boating or in the RV industry.

Technical Features

SIZE.jpg
Size:
The Majestic UFO X has had a major facelift with the redesign of the technology use in the internal electronics and the case design. These technical advances have allowed the Majestic UFO X Marine TV Antenna to be smaller than the previous UFO model. The UFO was 30cm (10”) in diameter, the new UFO X is supporting an improved reduced size of 24cm (9.4”) in diameter and it is more powerful than the previous model.

SS.jpg
Gain: Firstly the main engineer improvement is the High Gain of the UFO X which is at 30dB versus the previous model at 28dB. The UFO X has a 30dB High Gain Amplifier built into the Antenna which is a 58% increase in signal performance on the UFO. (For every 3dB Gain the signal level doubles). This gives you a huge advantage over other TV antennas because now you have a very strong signal in the antenna that has not had any interference being induced when it received the signal, and with a very strong signal being sent down the cable, the electrical interference is insignificant compared to the strong signal. Once the signal is sent down to the junction we do not need to do any filtering or cleaning to give you excellent digital reception.

ARROWS.jpg
Vertical and Horizontal:
The UFO X has had a vertical and horizontal plane incorporated to give you the performance needed in both Vertical and Horizontal locations. This feature is rarely found in TV Antennas as most are either designed to work in a Vertical or Horizontal application. For those that are looking for a TV antenna that can perform world-wide covering both vertical and horizontal, digital and analog signals then the Majestic UFO X Marine TV Antenna is the ultimate choice.

SN.jpg
SNR: Signal to Noise Ratio. This is one of the most important factors of a TV Antenna which has an amplifier. The lower the signal to noise ratio the better the amplifier performs. Basically we are comparing Signal vs Noise. The more signal we have and the less noise we have the better the amplifier works. The UFO X uses state-of-the-art-technology to produce a very low a signal to noise ratio of 3dB which is extremely low compared to most other brands. This means that more signal is amplified and less noise is amplified, which in turn means better performance. This also significantly improves distance performance, as the further you get the signal is weaker, and the noise of electrical interference, other noise still remains high, so the UFO X Amplifier is able to clean the signal and give you exceptional performance.

GROUND.jpg
Ground Independent:
The UFO X is also designed to be ground independent (does not need a ground plane or be grounded) to amplify the TV signal. This design is very specific as most installations do not allow for a proper RF Ground, which is totally different to an electrical ground. This is another brilliant engineering design by Majestic to make this antenna perfect for boats or any non-metal roof installation.

LIGHT.jpg
Lighting:
One of the most important features of the old UFO was the red light Majestic had on the Antenna and Junction box, this allowed for easy fault finding. The UFO X has been upgraded, and the Majestic engineering team have done some major changes in the lighting too.  When the Majestic UFO X Marine TV Antenna antenna is powered up through the junction box, there are two lights which light up. The junction box has its own Green LED light to indicate that there is power getting to the junction box. Then the UFO X has a Bright Blue light which shines through the case giving you easy identification that the UFO X is powered up. These lights are much brighter that what used in the past, and use the same amount of power as the previous versions.

VOLT.jpg
Voltage Range – Most Antenna brands claim they are 12 Volt, and technically yes they work on 12 Volts. However the issue is the level of tolerance that most of these Antenna have, most 12 Volt TV antenna have a limited tolerance, generally between 11V and 14V. This can cause many people problems especially when they have long cable runs, or the battery voltage drops a little (especially late at night), or even if they have a poor power connection. The Majestic UFO X TV Antenna is designed to work from 9V through to 27V DC, therefore ensuring you will not have any power issues. The TV Antenna is not designed to work on a 24V system if the charging goes above 28V DC.

SIGNAL.jpg
TV Reception
 - One important factor in being able to receive TV signal is the signal level. The Majestic UFO X TV antenna which has the highest gain at 30dB for its tiny 9" size, you can be assured that if there is any chance of signal reception, you will be the one that can get it with the Majestic UFO X.

FM.jpg
UHF/VHF/FM:
The UFO X is capable of receiving signal on different frequencies. Throughout various countries there are UHF and VHF signals for Digital and analog TV, the UFO X can pick them up and integrate the process in the antenna and amplify them and send a nice clean signal down the cable for your TV. But more importantly the UFO X can pick up FM signal and boost this performance. The UFO X Junction box has Two Outputs and you can use one of them for the FM Signal to give you improved radio performance. The two outputs from the junction box incorporate UHF/VHF/FM so it does not matter which port you use for the different devices.

Operating Frequencies:
VHF - 47MHz - 230MHz
UHF - 470MHZ - 862MHz
FM - 87MHz - 108MHz

Does the Majestic TV Antenna pick up HD Digital Channels?

Yes all the Majestic TV Antennas pick up Digital Channels.

However it is also important that you have a TV that has a Digital TV Tuner otherwise it will not be able to decode the Digital Channels picked up.

Where can I register my 3 Year Warranty for my Majestic Product?

All Majestic products come with a 3 Year warranty.

You can simply keep your receipt for 3 Years and provide this as your proof of purchase.

Otherwise you can register on our 3 Year Registration Website Portal: Warranty

Does the UFO X Work on 24V systems?

The UFO X junction box accepts 9V to 28V (we rate the maximum at 27V allowing 1V for maximum range). The junction box provides 12V upto the UFO X so the amplifier in the UFO X is powered by 12V DC. So as long as your 24V charging system does not exceed 28V then it will work. If it does exceed 28V the junction box will simply turn OFF - the green light will go out and no power goes up to the Antenna. Once the voltage drops below 28V the junction box will power up again and send 12V upto the UFO X and it will work normally.

What type of cable should I use for my TV Antenna?

The Majestic TV antennas such as the UFO X, the come complete with 10M (33ft) RG59 TV Coax. This type of cable works best at this length, as you increase the length of the cable your rate of loss accelerates.

Therefore, if you are looking at longer length of cable, for example to go up a mast or on the top of a boat we suggest either RG6 which is good to about 20M (66ft) if you need longer then we suggest you go to RG11 which is good to about 30M (99ft).

Quad shield is the best option if you can source this as this will also help with reducing the amount of noise being picked up in the cable, especially over longer runs.

My UFO X TV Antenna is not picking up any TV Stations what can I check?

Firstly - you need to make sure it is wired up correctly.

There are two connectors close together which say out1 & out2 – these go to the TV’s or FM radio. The one on its own IN is the Antenna lead – make sure it is wired correctly.

Secondly - the Majestic UFO X is a boosted TV Antenna and there are several things that you can test, before the antenna is classed as faulty.

The First thing to do is to see if the Junction Box has power to it. When power is applied there will be a Green Light on the UFOX model Junction box or small red light on the side of the Original UFO TV Antenna. If there is NO Green light, unplug the power cable and check there is 9V to 27V coming into it (depending on your power system) the Center Pin will be positive (red +) and outer pin negative (Black -) If there is no power then this is your problem, you need to get power to the Junction box.

If power is getting to the junction box then check to make sure power is coming out of the junction box. Remove the cable going to the Antenna (IN) – place a small wire in the center pin section and carefully measure the voltage (again Center pin will be positive). If there is power coming out – then the box is ok.

If there is No Power coming out the Box is faulty – contact our support team to organize this with you.

Now that we know power is coming out of the junction box we need to know if there is power getting to the TV antenna. The easiest way is to see if there is a blue light at the bottom of the TV Antenna, please note you cannot see this during the day as the Blue Light shines through the TV antenna and can only be seen of a night time or dusk. If there is a Blue Light then the system is correctly working, and you need to Retune the TV or relocate to another location where there is a better signal. If you are already in a strong signal area and still cannot any channels after a retune – make sure you have the TV Antenna setting set for AIR (not cable) if you are in USA or Canada – if still nothing contact our support team.

If you do not have a blue light we need to see if there is power getting to the TV antenna at the top. Unplug the cable from the TV Antenna and see if you can measure 12V at the end of the plug (Center pin positive be careful not to short the center pin and shield during measuring). If you do not have power there, it means there is an issue with the cable or plugs (as there is power coming out of the junction box and not getting to the end) – you will need to check the plugs and cabling.

If there is 12V coming out of the plug going to the antenna – reconnect it and check again to see if you can see the blue light – if not – the Antenna is faulty, contact our support team to help.

If you are still having issues please feel free to contact our support team

My UFO X TV Antenna is picking up some but not all TV Stations what do I need to do? ...

If you are picking up some signal but not all signals, we need to make sure the Antenna is working, the quickest test is to pick a channel where the TV signal works, unplug the power cable from the junction box and see if the TV signal drops out. If the TV signal drops out – reconnect power and the TV signal should come back. This means the TV Antenna is working see other tests below.

If the TV signal did not drop out when you pulled the power cable out of the junction box this means either the TV antenna is not working or not wired up properly – see FAQs “My UFO X TV Antenna is not picking up any TV Stations what can I check?”

Other Tests – Now that we know the Antenna is working, we need to work out why you are not getting the best possible signal and these are some of the thing to look into:

Cabling – Majestic supplies RG59 this is good for about 10M (33ft). If you are running a longer cable run we suggest you use RG6 Low Loss Quad shield cable this will make a difference in the loss of signal.

Noise – This test is best done at night.
Turn off all appliances, Fridge, Chargers, Lighting etc (un plug the AC from the Boat or RV) make sure nothing has power – the reason we do it at night as solar panels may still be charging so these need to be covered if you are doing it during the day or disconnect the solar Regulators. The only two things to have power should be the TV and Antenna. Now that you have isolated the power – retune the TV.

Location – You may be in a poor area, if you are in an RV or Caravan try a higher location. If you are in a boat you may be in a valley or low signal area try to re-locate.

If you are still having issues please feel free to contact our support team

Can I mount the New UFOX using the same old UFO Mount?

This depends on how it was mounted:

Deck Mounted - Yes: If you used the deck mount with the thread for the Old UFO you can use this for the new UFO X, however the antenna will sit very low and the cable comes in from the bottom not at an angle like the old UFO. Therefore, the cable entry and connection will be tight, but you can use the New Mount over the top of the old one as the new is larger and taller. To do this you will need to remove the old mount and the New one will go over (cover) the old holes.

Mast Mounted – No : If you used the old mast mount which was a metal bracket through the base of the old Mount then the answer is No. You will need to change this mount to the New UFOXMMB which is the UFO X Mast Mount Bracket.

The Antenna comes with a socket on the bottom for mounting to 1"-14 threads – common GPS Antenna mount.

When I watch TV my picture is pixelated – what is wrong? ...

The reason you are getting pixelation is due to the signal not being strong enough. There is not enough TV Digital data reaching the processor and therefore it is only displaying the data it is getting.

This is mainly due to three reasons:

Firstly, your location. If you are in a weak signal area then the TV signal needs to be boosted. Either you move location to a better area or improve your antenna position or type of antenna if this is a consistent issue.

Secondly, poor antenna reception. If your antenna does not have a booster the signal you are picking up is too weak. The Antenna should have a booster built into it, we recommend at least 26dB Gain, anything less than this and you are not getting the best possible performance. The Majestic UFOX is 30dB Gain significantly more powerful than most antennas it’s size.

Finally, poor connectors or cabling. If you are getting pixelation and the first two points have been addressed, then you need to check the connectors to make sure they are on properly and there are no bad connections, also check the cable to make sure it does not have any corrosion in it.

One of these three will be causing your issue, to do a final test, you can try the TV at home or in a known good area and if the TV works then it is not the TV, it is the Antenna, Antenna connectors or wiring or location.
